- Where is my product or activation key?
Your product or activation key was given to you at the order confirmation page at the time of purchase, as well as in an email that was sent to you with your order receipt.
If you placed an order using Paypal, money order, wire transfer, or cash, you will receive an email containing your activation key upon successful processing of your payment.
- My computer is freaking out and it’s having a serious meltdown. Or I can’t install your software- what do I do?

- Are product updates and upgrades free?
Product updates for the entire duration of your purchased licensed are free, including minor fixes and updates, as well as signficant product upgrades with new and improved features.
- Can I use your product on more than one machine?
Our license agreement allows users to use one license (product key) on one computer only.
- How do I download the latest version of my software?
Product updates are automatic unless you specifically turned off automatic updates in the settings of the product. For instructions on how to enable automatic updates, please refer to the specific instructions for your product below.
- I'm having difficulty uninstalling ChicaPC-Shield™
If you run into any issues uninstalling ChicaPC-Shield or need to perform a "clean" uninstall, please download and run the ChicaPC-Shield Clean Up Utility.
- How long is my purchase of Chica Password Manager™
The license to use Chica Password Manager™ lasts for the lifetime of your computer. There is no need to pay for upgrades and/or renewals.
- If I uninstall Chica Password Manager®, will I have to reset my passwords?Chica Password Manager™ only stores the information for easy entry into various websites. If you remember all of the passwords to your other websites, you should not have to reset them after you uninstall. Chica Password Manager™ also stores these passwords on an encrypted database on your personal computer. We do not store your passwords anywhere else, and therefore do not have access to your passwords. When you uninstall everything should just go back to how you were logging in prior to the installation of Chica Password Manager™.
- Can I export my passwords back to Firefox or other browser?
Exporting from Firefox or other browser can be dones at any time. Browsers do not have an import function, so it is not possible to export passwords from Chica Password Manager® into a browser.
- What can I do if I forget or lose my Master Password?Unfortunately, if you have forgotten or lost your Master Password there is nothing that can be done to retrieve your database of passwords. The Master Password is there to protect you from unauthorized use or access of your personal data which means that we are also unable to access it. To delete your database and start fresh, delete the "Chica Passwords" folder which is found in Documents.
- How Do I Change the Automatic Locking Feature?
In order to change the locking mechanism please do following:

- How Can I Create a Portable Version of Chica Password Manager®?
Included with each Chica Password Manager™ license, the Portable Version allows you to take your logins, passwords and identities wherever you go. To create your Portable Chica Password Manager™, you will need a USB device and your primary computer on which Chica Password Manager™ has been installed.
To install the Portable Version on a USB device, please do the following:
1. Insert your USB device into the computer.
2. Right click on the pink padlock icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, then select "Portable Version". This will launch the Portable Version Wizard, which will walk you through the process to create your Portable Version.
3. You will be prompted to select the USB drive on which the Portable Version will be installed. Select the drive and click Next.
Click Close at any time to exit the Portable Version Wizard.
4. Basic system information will be displayed and you will be prompted to select:
- Whether you would like to be prompted to enter the Master Password when launching the Portable Version. This is recommended.
- Whether you would like to include Sticky Password in the USB device’s autorun menu.
After making your selections, click Execute to install the Chica Password Manager™ Portable Version on the USB device. A progress bar will be displayed.
5. Once the installation is completed, click Finish to exit the Portable Version Wizard
To synchronize Chica Password Manager™ databases, to be sure you have the most recent passwords on your portable device, please do the following:
1. Insert your USB device into the computer.
2. In the system tray menu of the application, select Portable version. This will launch the Portable Version Wizard, which will walk you through the process to synchronize the database on your computer with the Portable Version database.
3. You will be prompted to select the USB drive on which the Portable Version will be installed. Select the drive and click Next.
4. Click Close at any time to exit the Portable Version Wizard.
5. Select the action you would like to take:
- Merge the two Databases – Chica Password Manager™ will compare each Account, Secure Memo and Identity in the Desktop database with the Portable version database. You will be prompted to approve
- Use Password Database from Desktop – this will overwrite all stored entries in the Portable version with the data that is saved in the Desktop database
- Use Password Database from Portable version – this will overwrite all stored entries in the Desktop database with the data that is saved in the Portable version. 6. After making your selection, click Next to continue. 7. Chica Password Manager™ will identify each of the Accounts, Secure Memos and Identities where the stored data do not match in both databases. Check each of the boxes for the items you wish to synchronize. Click Next to continue. 8. For each of the selected items, you will be prompted whether you would like to
- Overwrite the existing login
- Create a new login for importing one
9. Basic system information will be displayed and you will be prompted to select:
- Whether you would like to be prompted to enter the Master Password when launching the Portable Version. This is recommended.
- Whether you would like to include Sticky Password in the USB device’s autorun menu.
After making your selections, click Execute to synchronize the Chica Password Manager™ Portable Version on the USB device. A progress bar will be displayed.
10. Once the synchronization process is completed, click Finish to exit the Portable Version Wizard.
To launch the Portable Version, please do the following:
1. Insert your USB device into the computer. 2. Launch Chica Password Manager™ Portable Version by:
- If you have included Chica Password Manager™ in the autorun menu of the USB device, then simply select Chica Password Manager™ when the menu appears.
- If Chica Password Manager™ Portable version is not in the autorun menu, then it will be necessary to locate the file using a file manager program: double click on the Chica Password Manager™ application file. 3. If this is the first time you are using Chica Password Manager™ on this computer, you will be prompted to:
- To upload plug-ins for various browsers (e.g. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) install on the computer. These plug-ins will be necessary for Chica Password Manager™ to operate fully using the respective browsers.
- To import passwords that are found in browsers and unprotected password management programs into Chica Password Manager™. In addition, you will be prompted to disable the the password manager functionality included in some browsers
Unless you are the owner of the computer, this is NOT recommended.
4. The Master Password dialog will appear. Enter your Master Password and click OK to begin using Chica Password Manager™.
- I've accidentally deleted or changed one of my accounts in Chica Password Manager®. Can I retrieve my login information?
Chica Password Manager™ automatically creates encrypted backup files before it makes any changes to the password database. To restore your passwords from earlier, click on the Chica Password Manager® padlock icon in the system tray located in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Go to Manage Database → select the Backup tab → click on Restore to find your backups arranged by date. Select the appropriate date and click on Restore.
- Chica Password Manager® prompts me to enter my Master Password. Where can I find my Master Password?
The Master Password is the password that you created during the installation and set-up of Chica Password Manager™. This is the only password you will need to remember, and it is critical that you do not lose or forget this password. Without the Master Password it is not possible to unlock and access your password database or to use Chica Password Manager™.
- Why do I need a Master Password?
Chica Password Manager™ allows you to store all of your password and sensitive login information in a secure encrypted format that only you can access and use! The Master Password that you create is your key that ensures that no one can get to your passwords and misuse them. Of course, you can change your Master Password as frequently as you would like to ensure that it remains secret.
- Can I import my passwords from another program?
Chica Password Manager™ allows you to import your passwords from other installations of Chica Password Manager™ as well as from other password management programs. When importing passwords, choose whether to overwrite all accounts in Chica Password Manager™, or to add the imported accounts to the existing accounts in the database.
- Can I try Chica Password Manager® before I buy it?
Yes. You can download a trial version of Chica Password Manager™. The trial version has full functionality for 30 days, so you can try all the features.
- Can Chica Password Manager® help protect me from phishing scams?
Chica Password Manager® protects you from phishing scams because it knows the actual Internet address of the websites you have authorized as safe for your passwords. When scammers attempt to get access to your financial and other data with fraudulent addresses, Chica Password Manager™ warns you that you have been re-directed from the legitimate websites.
- Can I use Chica Password Manager® together with the password saving feature in my browser?
It is not recommended to use Chica Password Manager™ simultaneously with the built-in password saving and auto-fill features of browsers. Conflict may arise when both applications try to populate your password and login data at the same time and the result will likely be that the data is inaccurate. Of course, the same applies to trying to use multiple password managers simultaneously – it is not recommended to do this.
- What's the difference between using Chica Password Manager® and the password saving feature included in some browsers?

- How to scan my PC for Malware with ChicaPC-Shield™
Open ChicaPC-Shield™ from your start menu or the desktop icon. Select either the Quick Scan, Full Scan or Flash Scan (Flash Scan only available to licensed users). Generally a Quick Scan will be sufficient. Click "Scan". When it is completed you will select "View Results" and then it will list everything it has found. There should be checkmarks by all items. Click the button that says "remove selected". It may require you to reboot your computer at this point, so be sure to save all of your files before you allow it to. After your computer has rebooted it should perform much better. If it found infections, it would be a good idea to run the scan a second time to make sure it comes back with clean results.
- How do I know if my PC is infected?The symptoms of a malware infection can be as simple as programs starting to run slowly. Other infections can be much clearer, such as malicious security alerts claiming that you are infected that you can not disable or get around and browser hijacks. When your browser is hijacked it will not let you navigate to various websites and will redirect you to sites you do not want to visit. It may also display search results from other pages. For example if you did a search in Google and the results show up in another search engine, you are likely experiencing an infection. If your computer seems to be running much more slowly then it should or you are experiencing other strange symptoms like random shut downs and errors, it's a good idea to run a scan for malware with ChicaPC-Shield™.
- I get a security alert when trying to run ChicaPC-Shield™When you click on ChicaPC-Shield™ and a warning pops up that it is infected and will not let you run the program, open "My Computer" or just "Computer" and navigate to C:\Program Files\ChicaLogic\ChicaPC-Shield™. Right click cpcs.exe and rename it to winlogon.exe. Double-click on winlogon.exe to run ChicaPC-Shield™.
- When I try to run ChicaPC-Shield&trdae;, or when I try to install it, nothing happens.
Sometimes when you are finishing your install, or trying to run ChicaPC-Shield™ you may get the following errors, or nothing will happen:

This means the cpcs.exe was deleted by the malware you are dealing with. To essentially "hide" ChicaPC-Shield™ from the malware you are dealing with download the executable from here and save it to the Program Files\ChicaLogic\ChicaPC-Shield™ folder. Right click the file and rename it to "test.exe". Double click test.exe to launch it.
Then ChicaPC-Shield™ should run.
In some cases, you will need to rename the executable file you downloaded (cpcs.exe) to explorer.exe (this for example when you are also dealing with "Security Tool" or another fake scanner - you can actually bypass whatever it blocks by renaming the program/ exe file you want to run, to explorer.exe).
Once the renamed cpcs.exe runs,
First step is to click the update tab in order to download the latest updates.Then run a quick scan and let ChicaPC-Shield™ quarantine what it found.
Reboot afterwards.
- How can I get the latest database on a PC that can't access the internet?You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations. Windows XP and 2000

- Why can’t I update ChicaPC-Shield™?
Sometimes malware can change various settings to prevent the computer from accessing the internet properly. First confirm that Internet Explorer is running in Online mode. Start -> Run (Search in Vista/7), then copy/paste the following line into the field and Press ‘OK’.
Copy/Paste: REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Next, find the Network Connections in your Control Panel (you may have to access this from your Network and Sharing Center and then selecting "change adapter settings".) Find your active connection (it may be a wireless adapter or a physically plugged in LAN adapter, whichever one says "connected". Right click the connected adapter and select properties. Then find your TCP/IP v4, highlight it and click properties.
Typically, both settings should be "obtain automatically". If there are numbers written there, write them down and then click on "obtain automatically" and see if you can update. If that doesn't work you can add the manual addresses back in.

- How do I activate ChicaPC-Shield™?If you have yet to install ChicaPC-Shield™, please do so by downloading it from here first. Open ChicaPC-Shield™ by double-clicking on the desktop icon, or by going to Start -> All Programs -> ChicaLogic -> ChicaPC-Shield™. With ChicaPC-Shield™ open, click the ‘Protection’ tab, the ‘Register’ button, and then enter the ID and Key that were given to you at the time of purchase. - How do I uninstall ChicaPC-fix?
To uninstall the program, please do the following:
Click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs
Locate ChicaPC-fix in the list. Select it and click on the "Remove" button - How do I know if I need to use ChicaPC-fix? You can try a FREE ChicaPC-fix scan, which will scan your computer for all of the errors and then fix 25 of them totally for free. You can then choose to purchase a ChicaPC-fix license, which will fix the remaining errors in your registry and allow you to scan and clean your computer as often as you like for up to one year. You may also uninstall the program, if you wish.
- What is the Windows registry? The Windows registry is a database that stores settings and options for the Microsoft Windows operating system. It contains critical and important information and settings for the computer's hardware, software, users, and preferences. The average registry will have hundreds or thousands of pieces of information read from and written to it every day.
- Why should I use ChicaPC-fix? Registry errors can prevent your computer system from running smoothly or starting up correctly. Whenever you open, install, or uninstall ANY program on your computer, signatures from that program are stored in the registry. This information builds up over time. Windows must go through the registry each time the computer starts. The more information there is, the SLOWER the computer runs. ChicaPC-fix is a tool that you can use safely and easily to delete unused signatures (keys), detect and repair registry errors, and potentially prevent serious problems and performance issues on your computer. Without regular registry tuning, it is possible that your computer will not function normally. In fact, it may even crash or fail completely.
- Is it possible to modify the Windows registry manually? You can edit the registry by using Microsoft's Registry Editor (Regedit.exe or Regedt32.exe). However, using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows again. Microsoft does not guarantee that errors caused by using Registry Editor incorrectly can be resolved again. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.
- Where do I find the Windows registry? The registry is stored in several files on your computer. The exact names and locations of these files depend on the version of Window you are using.
- Can I skip scanning of specific registries and items? You can manage what you would like ChicaPC-fix to scan from the ChicaPC-fix menu. Click on “Scan for Errors" and choose which items you want to skip. In the “Startup Manager” menu, uncheck applications that you do not want to have scanned during the start up. During a scan of your computer, you will be able to see what keys and files ChicaPC-fix has found and will delete. You can choose to ignore specific registry items. Click on the “+” sign to the left of each category to see a list of found registry issues. To view the ignore list, go to “Settings -> Ignore list” in your ChicaPC-fix menu. From here you can also un-Ignore items at any time.
- How do I restore my registry? To restore your registry, please do the following: 1) Go to your ChicaPC-fix client 2) Click on the "Restore" button 3) Select a restore point and click "Restore"
- Can I schedule a scan? Yes. Open ChicaPC-fix from Start -> All Programs -> Chica -> ChicaPC-fix -> ChicaPC-fix. Click on "Settings" and "Manage Schedule". Then click on the "Manage" button. Choose the start time and how often you want your scan to run. ChicaPC-fix will run a scan at the start time you choose.
- Why do I have the same errors on my computer after several scans? ChicaPC-fix finds and fixes all of the errors it finds. Some programs re-create the same invalid entries that were removed in the first scan. ChicaPC-fix will find them and remove them again from your system. There is no need to be worried, as a small number of errors may reappear after being removed by ChicaPC-fix. To get a rid of the errors permanently, you will need to find the program that is re-creating them.
- Why are only 25 errors fixed from all that were found? During the trial scan, ChicaPC-fix will find all of the errors on your system and will automatically fix 25 errors for FREE. To remove all of the errors on your computer and run unlimited scans for a set period of time, you must purchase a ChicaPC-fix license.
- ChicaPC-fix will not scan or repair It may be because you have another program running on your computer that is "holding" on to a file or has created a temporary file that ChicaPC-fix cannot scan or repair. Try to temporarily deactivate your anti-virus software and close all programs running on your computer (including programs that are open in your system tray located on the menu bar in the lower right corner of the screen). Then run the ChicaPC-fix scan again. It could also be that you have a form of malware on your computer that is not possible for ChicaPC-fix to remove. We suggest that you try to scan and clean your computer with Chica-PC Shield software. Download the free version.
- In ChicaPC-fix™, what does the "Register Now" button mean?
Once you install ChicaPC-fix and click on "Find Errors" to complete the FREE performance, 25 errors will be fixed for FREE. To speed up your computer, fix the remaining errors, and scan and fix errors on an ongoing basis, it is necessary to purchase an activation product key. To purchase a product key, click on "Register Now" and follow the steps to complete the checkout process. - Why do I have the same errors on my computer after several scans? ChicaPC-fix finds and fixes all of the errors it finds. Some programs re-create the same invalid entries that were removed in the first scan. ChicaPC-fix will find them and remove them again from your system. There is no need to be worried, as a small number of errors may reappear after being removed by ChicaPC-fix. To get a rid of the errors permanently, you will need to find the program that is re-creating them.

To delete your database and start fresh, delete the "Chica Passwords" folder which is found in Documents.

Go to Manage Database → select the Backup tab → click on Restore to find your backups arranged by date. Select the appropriate date and click on Restore.

Chica Password Manager™ allows you to store all of your password and sensitive login information in a secure encrypted format that only you can access and use!
