How to Wipe Clean Data on Your Phone

Getting ready to upgrade to a new phone? Most of us upgrade every 18 months or so. We use our phones for talking, texting, Instant Messaging, surfing the internet, and we store all our contacts on it. Just deleting all that personal information isn’t enough: it’s still exists on the phone. So whether you decide to donate your old phone, or sell it to a friend or on eBay, you’ll want to clear out all the data or “wipe clean” your phone. Take a moment to back up all your data, then here’s how to do it:

How to wipe clean an iPhone, iPad, or an iTouch:

  1. Go to General Settings
  2. Reset
  3. Erase all

How to wipe clean an Android:

  1. Power down the phone
  2. Hold the Home Key and End Key at the same time
  3. Press the Alt Key, then W

How to wipe clean a BlackBerry:

  1. Go to Options
  2. Security Options
  3. General Settings
  4. Press the Menu Key
  5. Select Wipe Handheld
